Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Seminar tomorrow and Friday.It's all about journalism and creative writing, I do am excited. At last, I have something to do. No more boring days in my life.
I wonder who will be in the seminar, I think the same people I worked with in The Catalyst Staff.

It's MYX Music Awards time again. Time
to vote for your favorite
hitmakers and bestow on them that now
much-coveted MYX trophy. We
will know who the most deserving ones
are during the awards
ceremonies, to be held on March 15 at
the AFP Theater.
Kamikazee garnered the most
nominations with 10 nods plus a
nomination for Rica Peralejo on their
music video, Martyr Nyebera
and 2 nominations for their
collaboration on Parokya ni Edgar's
The
Ordertaker for a total of 13. Sponge
Cola placed second with 6
nominations and Sandwich on third with
5.

Aside from the usual Favorite
categories fans vote for, MYX also
gives out the prestigious Magna Award.
This honors artists for their
outstanding contributions to Pilipino
music. Last year's choice was
Megastar Sharon Cuneta. This time
around the Magna will go to the
Apo Hiking Society. There is no
question that Jim Paredes, Danny
Javier and Buboy Garovillo deserve
this one. Aside from being one of
the prime movers of the Manila Sound
in the '70s, this trio is hot
again these days.
This is thanks to the KAMInAPO MUNA
album where some of today's most
popular artists pay tribute to the Apo
by performing its songs. The
album is a huge hit. In fact, it has
spawned two other albums. One
is the limited edition package with
the KAMInAPO MUNA CD, plus the
digitally-remastere d original
recordings of the same songs by the
Apo themselves. The other one features
music videos and footage of
the KAMInAPO Muna concert.
Great! But the best thing about the
success of these Apo albums is
that these have revived interest in
the Manila Sound. This term
refers to the spate of original works
and the big number of artists
who helped make the late '70s one of
the most prolific periods in
the history of Philippine pop music.
